2018 EDITION – CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
The following institutions:
- AIEAA – Italian Association of Agricultural and Applied Economics,
- CRES – Manlio Rossi-Doria Centre for Economic and Social Research (Roma Tre University),
- Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics (University of California at Davis),
- Department of Economics, Statistics and Finance “Giovanni Anania” (University of Calabria)
Hereby establish a Scholarship in memory of Giovanni Anania.
The Scholarship is aimed at a Ph.D. student or young scholar having obtained the PhD degree within the last three academic years. The Call is open to applicants up to 35 years of age, with an Italian or foreign qualification, who carry out their research activities at an Italian University on research themes related to the field of agro-food economy.
The scholarship amounts to €5,000€ to help cover the expenses of a tuition-free stay at the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics of the University of California at Davis (United States), giving the scholarship recipient the right to attend educational activities and seminars offered by the Department. Minimum expected stay at UC Davis is 4 months, preferably in Fall term 2018/2019 and, in any case, not later than Spring 2019.
Study and research activities will be supervised by a member of the faculty at the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics of the University of California at Davis within the following range of subject areas:
1) Agricultural Economics
2) Environmental and Resource Economics
3) Development Economics
4) Applied International Commodity Trade
5) Agricultural Policy
The selection shall be made by a committee of three members designated by the Italian institutions that have sponsored the scholarship, and in consultation with the UC Davis Department.
Applications will be evaluated on the basis of a research project clearly specifying objectives and methodologies. The project is to be written in English and to have a maximum length of 15,000 characters. In case of research projects of equal merit, applicants resident in Calabria will prevail.
Deadline for 2018 Applications is April 30th, 2018. Applications must be mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org accompanied by:
- research project;
- copy of an identity document;
- certificate of enrolment in a Ph.D. Degree or certificate of Ph.D. Degree;
- letter of recommendation of the Ph.D. supervisor and/or of a professor belonging to an Italian University.
Results will be communicated by May 30th, 2018.
The winner shall commit to carrying out the program described in the Call – whose details will be agreed with the participating institutions – under penalty of revocation of the award and related benefits. At the end of the period, the beneficiary will write a summary (in English) of the activities done. Publications resulting from research activities carried on, entirely or partially, at University of California should acknowledge the grant received.
